New Orleans Home and Garden Show 2009 - Designer Eddie Ross at Work

The New Orleans Superdome is a place most around the world have come to think of as that over-televised scene of a hot and filthy refuge for the thousands of Katrina ravaged victims. Those of us closer to home associate it with touchdowns, hotdogs and overtimes by our Saints football team. Only the wonderfully talented interior designer Eddie Ross could have turned a section of it into an idyllic vision of a home in the fresh yet classically designed space he created for the Louisiana Home and Garden Show this past weekend.

The delightfully unexpected shade of lavender paint he chose for the dining room area was the perfect quiet backdrop for the various furniture and accessories he borrowed from shops around New Orleans.

The zinc wrapped dining table and Swedish secretary he borrowed from us at perch. The metal mirror was an inexpensive Target find and the shades on the lamps he found and spray-painted silver. He handpicked the assortment of silver candlesticks, flatware and gorgeous tureen from Top Drawer Antiques, as well as the antique Bavarian China.

He said he found the china piled up and covered with a fine layer of ancient dust and grime - only found on the best undiscovered objects unearthed in authentic antique stores and markets where he loves to shop.

He also borrowed another one of my favorite pieces from perch. - this English secretary and campaign chest.

It worked so perfectly with the Audubon inspired print above flanked by the two French windowed sconces also from our shop.

The porcelain bowl filled with roses and the blanc de chine ladies opposite were the perfect touch.

It was truly an inspired design. Thank you Eddie for shedding light on New Orleans and for honoring us with your hard work and time here. It is appreciated more than you know.

Designer Eddie Ross, me - perch. owner Caroline Robert, and Valorie "the Visual Vamp" Hart (and photographer extraordinaire!)

A beautiful room both at first glance and as you begin to take in the details. How wonderful that the gorgeous items from Perch were not only the anchors for the space, but the source of smaller threads of beauty as well. I've been drooling over that zinc work table since you gave us a peek at it when this blog first began. It's slipped very comfortably from workhorse to superstar in Mr. Ross' room. (Miz V, you're looking very NY in the coat & shades).
