Caroline does the buying for the store. Everyday people come in and are just delighted and bowled over by the things they see. It is an artful combination of contemporary, vintage, antique, and New Orleans. It takes a keen eye, and good instincts to fulfill the responsibility of filling a 6000 square foot space with beautiful things. Make that beautiful things that other people will like well enough to buy and enjoy in their homes.
A few weeks ago a couple of boxes came in, and when Jack and I unpacked them we were, like what is THIS?! We thought maybe Caroline's pregnancy hormones had affected her.
She took our ribbing in stride, and told us, just watch, people are going to love these.
Well she was right, and we have nearly sold out of the artisan hand made felt flower pillows. And we are very happy she was so right.
The other day there was an article in The New York Times HERE
Take a look at it.
It's all about the hot show at The Cooper Hewitt Museum about, guess what, FELT!
The gorgeous suzani in the first photo is made of felt and is from the exhibit.
These crazy wonderful heads are from another New York art show about felt!

This fabulous installation at The Cooper Hewitt, is a kind of an artful lyrical version of a traditional yurt. Yurts are made of felt, though I doubt they look like this!

And then there are these fabulous felt stones and rocks.

And even some high fashion dresses made from felt.

So here's our Caroline, right on trend!
We have two of these square pillows left, in stock and ready to ship for Mothers Day.
And one left of the fabulous red poppy. Wouldn't this be a great and different way to send your mother flowers?
They're on the web site
Or call as ASAP 504 899-2122 so we can ship them in time for Sunday.

I've been seeing quite a few fashion accessories being hand-felted by gals on the Burda sewing site too. True felt is earthy and glamorous at the same time. I've loved those pillows since you first posted them. Oh, that red poppy one!
Hi Val & Jack & everyone out in blogland... Caroline here. Speaking of felt and all things soft, I just put Eli down for a cuddly little nap & had a few minutes to look at the blog before his next feeding. It looks fabulous! Ah... our pillows are dwindling?! We can always order onesies or pairs if anyone is interested. Also, I'll see if they have any new styles for the fall. Val - I love the felt drapes and those felt rocks are fab. I want some!
oops... a squeaking baby calls. This Baby Mama out.
