perch. gets the table ready for the royal wedding

It's just a couple of more weeks until the royal wedding of Kate and William, and tea parties and luncheons are being planned in full force. Are you ready?

Wouldn't it be fun to invite a few friends over to celebrate? One customer told us she is planning a luncheon, and her husband is going to dress up and play the butler to her guests!

In honor of the royal wedding. perch. has set a table to inspire you. We started by painting a drop cloth with wide red and blue stripes to get the gestalt of the Union Jack without being too literal.

We got the idea from Katiedid HERE. Go on over for the complete 411 on and the DIY! Thanks Katie!

We gathered every red, white, and blue thing we had in the shop, and added the cute gold king and queen crowns we carry.

White flowers fit nicely into the queen's crown, and we added another flower on top of the candelabra with the festive blue candles.

Red melamine plates, and fleur di lys flatware look fun and regal, and the pale blue tea cups add a romantic English element. Etched glassware is pretty, and there is a set of vintage glasses with a gilded royal crest.

So look around your house, and get all your red, whote, and blue sutff together, and have a party to celebrate the royal wedding!

new shipment of kartell

The new dining table in the Top Top design line
It would make a fabulous desk too!
The side chairs are the Papyrus chairs
and we love them with the Madame Noir chandelier
The host chairs are the Ami Ami - don't you love the basket weave pattern

The icy blue gray sofa used as a banquette is a Kravet velvet

The area rug is the Antelope pattern

perch. is the exclusive dealer of Kartell in the Louisiana (and part of the South). We never tire of the designs , and Kartell is the perfect modern addition to the mix we love to do using antique and vintage, along with contemporary furnishings.

Large Ghostbusters side table with vintage Murano lamp
White vintage Foo Dog 25.
Python tray 40.

Kartell has many new items, and we are getting a few of them every day.
Our latest additions include the beautiful Ghostbuster pieces. A pair could be used as side tables or nightstands, and the larger single one would make a fabulous entry hall table.

The "Lucite" is the extra heavy kind, great quality that will last for years. With so many Kartell knock-offs being sold, you might be tempted by the lower prices, but the material used for the fakes is flimsy, and we have been told that chair legs snap off.

Small Kartell Ghostbuster table
We love it paired with the antique Regency chairs

The great design and high quality of material that Kartell uses does command a higher price, but the pieces are iconic and made to last years and years. Invest in the real thing, and you won't be sorry.

Icy blue sofa in Kravet velvet
Laura McKibbon plates 54. -perfect for sushi
White ceramic dragon 87.50

Beauville napkins from France 22.

Vintage Saki bottles 34.

So stop by perch. and see the new Kartell furnishings. We are sure you will love everything as much as we do. And if you would like us to order anything from Kartell for you, please call us. Accept no imitations. You deserve to have the real thing!

the crate and bottle side table

perch. wine bottle in a crate side table with marble top

We love the huge green wine bottle in the rustic crate stamped "France".

It's a neat object onto itself. But we paired it with a piece of Travertine marble and turned into a side table!

Come in and grab one! 250. for the bottle in crate side table.

getting ready for art in bloom

Can it already be one year since perch. did a major exhibit at The New Orleans Museum of Art for Art In Bloom in 2010 HERE

We are getting ready to do it again this year. Art In Bloom opens March 30.

We caused quite a sensation last year, so we want to do that again!

The theme this year is the 100 year anniversary of The New Orleans Museum of Art, and we have a spectacular vignette planned to celebrate this auspicious occasion.

So stay tuned for the reveal coming soon.

In the meantime enjoy these images by one our favorite photographers, Tim Walker who inspires us in many ways.

we are still loving python trays

The python tray has become a favorite of design lovers everywhere. For awhile it seemed like every magazine featured this pretty tray as the accessory du jour, and it seemed it was destined to become an endangered species.

But when something is so cute and adds just the right amount of decor savvy to almost any room, it is bound to become a classic that endures. That's how we feel about the python tray.

No matter how many snarky bloggers try to kill it, the python tray is here to stay!

Whether you use it for make-up, or a drinks tray, or a catch-all, it is just the right size and coloration.

perch. just got a large shipment of python trays in stock. Call to order, 504 899-2122, or stop in and pick one up.
