the blue angel finds a home

perch. sold this incredible painting by artist Louis St. Lewis. While we miss having it in the shop, I am sure you agree that this blue angel has found a very beautiful home in New Orleans.

perch. exclusively represents Louis St. Lewis in New Orleans.

Thank you Clara for sending us this photo.

santo with milagros

perch. styles a setting featuring a large santo
Jack Mayberry painting

perch. has a lovely reproduction of an antique santo. It has articulated arms and legs, and is hand painted in a lovely distressed finish. The face is especially pretty.

It is displayed standing on a modern printed Lucite table staged as a desk. Pulled up to it is a vintage Chinoiserie chair. The art work over the desk is a painting by Jack Mayberry, and the photograph to one side is by Lisa Conrad called "St. Roch Milagros".
We love this mix of antique, vintage, and contemporary elements, don't you?

Santo and milagros

St. Roch is a very old cemetery in New Orleans with a unique chapel. The Chapel is the most unusual in the city, with its hundreds of mementos (milagros) of cures attributed to St. Roch. Shoes, braces, crutches, and replicas of body parts line the walls. There is also a whisper that some of this is related to Voodoo, as ceremonies were once supposed to have taken place here.

Santo - 475.
Lucite console - 3500.
Jack Mayberry painting - 1150.
Lisa Conrad photograph - 400.

the turquoise files - the perfect chandelier

perch. Murano style turquoise chandelier

We loved it in purple HERE

But now, we die, because this glass chandelier comes in turquoise HERE! It looks like Venetian glass from the island of Murano. But it's really a great case of copy cat chic, and the price of 1950. makes a big look for a great price.

perch. Murano style red chandelier

And then to add the red cherry to the top, there's the same glam chandelier in over-the -top hot mama red HERE!

apricot tablescape

perch. tablescape features a mix of things

By now you know that perch. is a home furnishings shop in New Orleans, so the tablescapes we do are different than the ones you do in your homes. Still we hope we inspire you with some of the pretty things we have in the shop.

Apricot silk tableskirt custom made at perch.

We custom made a tableskirt from apricot color silk, with bold over size ruche-ing at the hemline. The plates on the table are mainly Cadeaux melamine, mixed in with some antique pierced poreclain compotes. There's a child size pink sugar and creamer too, and some ceramic pansy bowls.

Hope our cheery colors help lift your winter spirits!

Stop by Susan's Tablescape Thursdays HERE to see some really fantastic tables.

what we are loving now

perch. loves this Vitra wall organizer

perch. has this wall organizer in our office, and at least one person daily wants to buy it. We don't sell it, but you can get it HERE

nest of antlers

perch. deer antlers - 15. each

perch. just got in a new shipment of deer antlers. They are real, and naturally shed by the deer. Caroline's dad collected them from the woods around his home. We are selling them for a modest $15. each.

Call us if you would like us to send you one or more. They are a lovely object to display. Nobody does color like Mother Nature, and this is the most perfect greige-y white shade that could inspire an entire color palette for a room.

perch. has a pair of these spectacular silver leaf mirrors. They are huge, 45 x 61 and we were told they were custom made for a hotel in New York City.

Where would use one? Or the pair?

Call us if you would like one. Or two!

one room four ways

1. The room today with a Boston Sofa, mid century Danish chairs, Bungalow 5 side tables, Murano lamps, antelope print rug, Shiner bar stool turned on its side as a coffee table, metal sculpture dog, silver leaf mirror, Louis St. Lewis painting

perch., the shop, is in an old antebellum house in New Orleans. We arrange merchandise as if it's a home, though not in a literal way, but rather in a gestural way to give people inspiration of how great their own homes can look.

2. The same room set for a Christmas dinner party with red acrylic ballroom chairs

We move things around every couple of months. Merchandise comes and goes, and seasons change, and of course there are three designers here (Caroline Robert, Jack Mayberry, Valorie Hart) who get visually restless.

3. Here's the room set up as an elegant sitting room. The Hampton sofa is covered in another cut velvet, a sheepskin rug, white lacquer side tables, violet Murano lamps, a Roman bust, antique mandolin, vintage red Chinoiserie highboy, antique carved red and gilt wood finials, and the dog sculpture all add up to the mix we do best here at perch.
This view was widely photographed and published.

So here is one room we arrange and rearrange, the front parlor on the right when you walk in the center hall door. The constants are the Madame Noir chandelier, the cut velvet drapes, and the fireplace.

4. Summer dining room with burlap table with a wide vintage velvet trim, vintage French chairs, photo on mantle by Lisa Conrad, and painting by Mallory Chastant

The room has been set up as a sitting room and a dining space. The magic of this house is that several rooms can be switched around. We love all the iterations. Do you have a favorite?
